How Much Vitamin D Do We Need?

It can be said the vitamin D is the basic need for the skeleton and bone of human beings in spite of age and sex. It is true that young growing babies and women of age 50+ needs more vitamin D but men also need vitamin D to make their body stable and strong.

The amount of vitamin D suggested for different aged persons is different as per their need and their atmosphere. Young growing children need vitamin D in form of milk to make their growth perfect and bones strong to get a health physique.

In the same way women of age fifty plus need more vitamin as compare to their fellow men. Because there is big problem in old women that bones become weaker and cases of hip fracture are very common.

It is a big question that how much vitamin D I need to acquire the needs of my body. This question has multidimensional answers. These answers depend upon the area from where you belong and how old are you, what is your daily routine.

The questions about the area of belonging and nature of job are pretty important in this case. In Europe and United States most of the sun does not shine for a long time as there is a long winter season in those areas. So the major source of vitamin D the sunlight is not very much helpful for them. In Africa the skin of people is dark so the sunlight available to them is not converted in to vitamin D due to pigment present in their skin. On the other end in Asia most of the people have a big source the sun light to get their body required vitamin D.

In the same way nature of job also affects the availability of vitamin D. If some body works in an open atmosphere then his body will get much more vitamin D rather than that who works in a closed office or at a place where he has less time to take sun bath.

Question for Young children and adolescents is How much vitamin D needed and answer is at least 10 mcg, (400-1000 international units), of vitamin D per day. For Older women how much vitamin D answers 700 to 1,000 IUs a day. Men also need at least 400 international units of vitamin D to provide their body the required vitamin D.
